'Stillness' and 'movement'
I created a dress for the TOKERU exhibition that, although an exhibition piece, was removed from the trousseau at performance time and moved as a contemporary dance costume.
I felt that in contemporary dance, physicality is more important and costumes tend to favour more skin-like outfits, so I wondered if I could design costumes in a different direction.
I categorised the elements of the exhibition into three main categories: space, artworks and people.
Space: planes, elevations, depth, sound, light, shadow, place
Work: light, shadow, sound, material
People: movement, voice, heat, light, shadow, sound

I focused on the duality of the dress, which is placed in the exhibition space as a work and is removed from the trousseau during performance time to become a dance costume.
The three elements - space, artwork and people - are blended by the movements of the dancers in costume, this is also the artwork, and their movements change the perception of space by the people watching the performance.
In other words, I considered that it is through the movements of the dancers in the dresses that the elements that make up the exhibition truly meld and blend together for the first time.

So I created a dress that follows the movement and changes the relationship between the space, the artwork and the people through movement.
The concept of the exhibition is 'Melting'.
This is a special exhibition in which the works of students in the Takumi area are exhibited in a space designed by students in the Architecture area, and contemporary dance performance is held in the exhibition space.
The aim is to create an exhibition where the various elements surrounding the exhibition, such as the artworks, visitors and space, melt and blend together.

movements
I designed the dress to have three cuts in it, so that the thin fabric, built-in like insect wings, would be exposed outwards as the dancers moved.
The impression of the dress changes depending on the movement: the costume as an exhibition piece that is on display and does not move at all, the dance costume during quiet movements, and the dance costume during large movements.
In this exhibition, my dress was able to do what other exhibition pieces could not do - influence the space - because of its human-wearable and moveable characteristics.
