Silver, Brass, Plaster
Concept

The duality of objects - front and back.

The act of twisting manipulates the boundary between front and back, which inevitably exists in objects.
The work expresses human nature, which is both the reverse side and the front at the same time.

A brass plate is fitted into a silver ring formed with wax.
The brass plate is hammered with the shape of a small birthmark on my finger that I was born with and that has lived with me.

When I wear this ring, my original birthmark is hidden, but the birthmark engraved on the brass is on the surface.
The ring expresses my true nature, my 'self', which is not hidden even when I wear the ring.
Display Design

To express the intention of the production of the work as a visual expression rather than a verbal expression only, the exhibition design was composed using a plaster cast of an elaborate mould of my hand.
